The Justice League Strips Down For DC Swimsuit Special

Fans can check out the Justice League's "splashiest, steamiest" stripped-down summer looks in a new swimsuit special to be released this August.

The members of the Justice League are ready for a beach vacation, as a new swimsuit special releases this August. G'nort's Illustrated Swimsuit Edition will feature a gallery of swimsuit art, a few summer-themed stories, and three potential centerfolds.

DC has announced G'nort's Illustrated Swimsuit Edition, which will hit stands on August 23. Featuring 48 pages of art from fan-favorite artists like Amanda Conner, Jenny Frison, Stanley "Artgerm" Lau, David Talaski, Babs Tarr, Daniel Sampere, and many more, this special edition will collect "some of the splashiest, steamiest, swimsuit covers from DC's best talent, all in one place for the very first time." You may know G’nort as the bumbling Green Lantern who protects Space Sector 68. Then again, you may not know G’nort at all. Join our favorite fuzzball as he showcases some of DC's best swimsuit covers and most swim-tacular stories! From the Flash in Speed Force Racing Briefs to Batman in a bat(hing) suit, this very special one-shot is summer fun from (bikini) top to (bikini) bottom.

For the past few years, DC's summer offerings have included special swimsuit-themed variant covers drawn by some of the industry's top talent. G'nort's Illustrated Swimsuit Edition, on top of spoofing the classic Sports Illustrated swimsuit specials, finally collects years' worth of art in one jam-packed issue. In addition to the swimsuit art, the special will include Steve Orlando and Paul Pelletier's Midnighter and Apollo story, "Out There," from DC Cybernetic Summer and a new 8-page story featuring the Penguin ("clad in the tightest bathing trunks you can imagine") by Julie Benson, Shawna Benson, and Meghan Hetrick. Each edition will also include one of three potential centerfolds, all three of which DC promises to reveal this summer.

Marvel and DC comics have a long history of swimsuit issues, with Marvel recently celebrating its Summer of Symbiotes with similar Venomized swimsuit art. It's always a joy to see comics celebrate the art (and artists) that make the industry possible - and what better way to spotlight that art than in a swimsuit special?

DC's swimsuit variant covers have been one of its most fun "gimmicks" in recent memory, especially for fans of these top artists. G'nort's Illustrated Swimsuit Edition is sure to be a joyful celebration of these characters, their artists, and another summer of fun. After months filled with Knight Terrors and other disasters, the Justice League deserve to cut loose and show off their most stylish swimsuits.
